Dr. Ahmad Ibrahim F.A.Sc graduated in Chemical Engineering from Monash University, Australia in 1973. In 1978, He was awarded a PhD in Wastewater Engineering from University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, United Kingdom. His thesis was on the study of the denitrifying filter for high nitrate waste. He spent 18 years with the Rubber Research Institute of Malaysia (RRIM) serving in various capacities in R&D on the treatment systems of rubber wastes, and study on clean technologies in rubber processing. He was also the Head of Product Development in the RRIM.

In 1985/86, he did a post-doctorate in Environmental Engineering at Cornell University under the Fullbright Hubert Humphrey Programme. In 1991, he was made Director of the Techno-Economic and Technical Advisory Service division in the Palm Oil Research Institute of Malaysia. Later in 1994, he became the Director of Market Promotions of Malaysian Palm Oil Promotion Council. He spent 9 years with the council travelling the world promoting the virtues of palm oil.

Later in 2003, he retired from the council and joined the Technology Park Malaysia Corporation as the GM for Biotechnology. In 2005/2006, he spent two years as Vice President of the Research and Technology Division of SIRIM. Currently, he is the Vice President (Academic/Research/Industry) at the Malaysia University of Science and Technology (MUST). Besides being the Fellow of Academy of Sciences Malaysia and Senior Associate of MIGHT, he is also the Advisor for the Fraunhofer Research Germany. He wrote extensively in the NST mainly on topics related to S&T and Innovation as well as issues on the environment.

Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak , Prime Minister 3rd April 2009 unveiled a new concept- One Malaysia – as a guiding principle to build a united and progressive Malaysian nation in 21st century. The two paramount cardinal principles underlie in One Malaysia concept is to inculcate the spirit and values of togetherness and a sense of belonging among Malaysians, regardless of race ,religion and creed.

He also reiterated that he will make sure that the future policies formulated by the government will be focused on people centric or people’s interest at heart. He urged Malaysians of all walks of life to admit and accept the reality that Malaysia is made up of plural society. There is no two way about it. Thus, he called all Malaysians to treat diversity in a plural society of Malaysia as a impetus to progress further to greater heights in future.

Karnival Citra Budaya is one of the event in IRC Carnival 2010, which is organized in collaboration with Malaysia National Library. This event will be held on 21st of February 2010 in Perpustakaan Desa, Tanjung Belanja, Kg. Talang, Tg. Belanja, Parit, Perak.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

Themes

IRC or CAMPUS LIFE

All photos should signify on the themes given. Photo which does not comply with the themes will be disqualified.

Eligibility and Period of Photo-shoot Competition

1. The competition is opened to all UTP students and also staffs.
2. The registration is opened starting from IRCC Road-show which is on 1^st February 2010 until 10^th February 2010
3. The Photo-shoot Competition would run from 11^th February 2010 to 23^rd February 2010.
4. All photos can be submitted to the respective person-in-charge starting from 21^st February 2010 to 23^rd February 2010.
5. Late submission will not be entertained.
6. Fee for this competition is RM10 per entry (participants can submit maximum 3 photos per entry).
7. Any type of camera is allowed.

Guidelines for photos submission

1. All photos must not contain any element of sensitive issue, pornography, politics, racism, discrimination, or equivalent.
2. All photos must not previously publish in any form.
3. All photos must be submitted in hard copy of 8R size.
4. Photographs must be taken in JPEG format.
5. All photos MUST BE SUPPLIED with no digital manipulation except for minor lighting / exposure adjustments and cropping.
6. Any visible Photoshop style work on a photo will result in immediate disqualification.

*Judging Criteria

1. The judging criteria are relevance to theme, creativity, and level of difficulty of the photo shoot.
2. Decision made by judges is final and no appeal or objection from contestants will be entertained.
3. Non Compliance with the terms and conditions will result in disqualification of the entry and fee paid is not refundable.
4. Winners will be announced on 24^th February 2010 and their photos will be exhibited at IRC.
5. Prizes are not transferable or redeemable for cash.

Copyright Laws

1. It is essential that the material submitted is out of copyright.
2. The organizer of the Photo-shoot Competition reserves the right to publish any information related to participants and their materials without prior notice or consent.

This game is the continuation of the previous competition, and now some changes are introduced. The competition is open for Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) staffs and students.   

I-Race competition compromises of team building challenges for all group of ages which aims to promote and familiarize them with Information Resource Centre (IRC) UTP services and environments. 

Besides that, the challenges prepared for these games will test the ability of physical and mental aspect of the participants and implement the spirit of teamwork and co-operation among participants.    

RULES & REGULATIONS   

1. Participants are not allowed to quit unless with a valid reason but fees will not be refund. Please inform us earlier if you want to cancel your participation.
2. All participants that come after 10 minutes starts will be disqualified.
3. All participants are required to finish each challenges in given time and they need to proceed even the task is not completed.
4. All the teams must go through all the check-points in order to finish the competition.
5. The time limit to finish the task is approximately 1 hour and the quarter, the competition will be stopped if it is run out of time.
6. The winner will be judged on the highest accumulation marks and the 1st group to finish the competition.
7. The winners will be inform later through SMS/ email.

1. Those who want to participate are required to fill in the form which can be obtained online and at the circulation desk in Information Resource Centre (UTP).
2. Payment must be made directly to our person in charge.
3. Please contact us to make the payment. You can either SMS, email or call our person in charge.

5. Photocopy form is also accepted.
6. All entry form and payment must be submitted to our organizer before 7th February 2010.

How does this competition works?

Challenge is open to all university/ college students.

1. Round 1 : On stage there will be 30 teams for 1 round.  Teams will select a category and the MC will read the question. The question will be open to all teams to answer. Each team will be given a writing block to answer the questions and they will display the answer once done. The judge will take down the answers and rewards points too. At the end, if there are teams with equal points, then a tie breaker round will be introduced.
2. Final : On stage there will be 6 teams.  Teams will select a category and the MC will read the question. The question will be open to all teams to answer. Each team will be given a writing block to answer the questions and they will display the answer once done. The judge will take down the answers and rewards points too. At the end, if there are teams with equal points, then a tie breaker round will be introduced. The team with the highest points will be the champion.
